Declaration of Major

In order to declare a major in Psychology, students must (1) complete a set of Pre-Psychology courses, and (2) attend one Psychology major meeting.

Pre-Psychology Courses
The following courses must be completed with a grade of C or higher prior to declaring a major in Psychology:
1) PSY 100: Survey of Psychology
2) SOCS 225: Statistical Analysis for Social Sciences or PSY 225: Statistical Techniques (formerly PSY 210)
3) PSY 212: Survey of Research Methods

Psychology Major Meeting
Students must attend one Psychology major meeting in order to declare or change their major to Psychology. Major meetings are held five times per semester. During major meetings, a Psychology advisor provides information on major requirements and academic opportunities available through the department, and assists students in filling out the College and Major Transfer Request (a.k.a. "Major Declaration") form. After attending a meeting, students are entered into the Psychology Undergraduate Advising Office's database of Psychology majors, which enables them to receive important e-mail announcements from Psychology Advising and to pre-register for Psychology courses each semester.

All meetings will be held in Gartley 103. Please contact the Undergraduate Advising Office, if you have completed all three required courses but are unable to attend any of the meetings listed below.
